This decision is completely down to you and may depend on how much support you would like from the YFW team. If you have your own brand, an engaged following, a large enough collection and feel confident running your own runway show, we say go for it! However, if you have a limited collection and resources, and would also like more guidance with your event, we would suggest you apply for the Independent Fashion Runway Show alongside a range of other exciting creatives.
Whether you choose to run your own event or join a YFW organised event, you will still have access to our talented wider team of make-up artists, stylists, photographers, models and ambassadors.
If your event follows YFW guidelines and has been approved by our team, you will then be able to access our wider team of creatives. This includes the option to include our photographers, stylists, make-up artists and ambassadors in your event.
As for models, we’ll provide you with a range of potential models for your event, and once you have made your selection, their contact details will be made available to you. It is to your discretion as an event organiser whether you wish to pay models for their involvement.
Your event will also be supported through the YFW social media channels, website, our printed programme and potentially through PR pieces.
For successful applicants, the cost to take part in this event is £200 + vat. This payment will cover costs associated with the event including but not limited to, model fees, hair and make-up, and access to the YFW team.
No, if your event is approved you do not need to pay to be included in the YFW schedule and to have access to the YFW team of creatives. Additional costs may of course incur depending on the scale of your event, such as the venue you choose, decor, entertainment, and so on.
It is the venue’s decision as to whether to charge a fee for using their event space.
Events that are not aligned with the YFW guidelines will unfortunately not be given permission to run under the YFW schedule.
However, events that are not accepted will be provided feedback as to any changes that may be needed for them to be accepted. Depending on the changes required, the event may be given permission to be included in the following YFW or asked to reapply for the second YFW of the year.
We take the well-being and safety of our models incredibly seriously at YFW which is why we only share their details with organisers once their event has been approved.
Once approved, the event organiser will be shown a selection of models that we would recommend for that particular event, and if successful those models will then be contacted directly by either YFW or the brand.
There will always be a member of the YFW team at events to ensure that everyone involved is treated fairly and that safety is prioritised.
Any emails received by models from York Fashion Week will be always be from an @yorkfashionweek.com email address.
The YFW Ambassador programme is by invitation only and is offered to those that have given their time, talent, and dedication to the progression of YFW over the years. Each season we will look to expand our Ambassador Programme to ensure we continue to hear fresh voices and ideas.
